Bob Popovics looked at a herring, looked at his vise, and created something that would make striped bass abandon all reason. The hollow tie gives this fly a profile the size of a small sandwich while still casting like something much more civilized. When the herring are running through Montauk's rips and the bass are pushing bait against the rocks, this is the fly you want tied to your leader. Everything else is a conversation piece.
