Ray Bondorew understood something fundamental about sand eels and the bass that eat them: less is more. This sparse, elegant pattern in the water becomes a sand eel so realistic that the only thing missing is the tiny existential crisis of being at the bottom of the food chain. It is tied with restraint, fished with patience, and eaten with enthusiasm. In a sport obsessed with adding materials, Ray had the courage to subtract.
