Bob Clouser's design is the most successful saltwater fly pattern in history, and in the Northeast, it has probably caught more stripers than all other patterns combined. The lead eyes create a jigging, inverted retrieve that imitates a wounded baitfish in the estuaries, back bays, and rips where Northeast gamefish feed. It is not exciting. It is not innovative. It is the fly you tie on when you want to actually catch fish rather than have a conversation about fly selection.

Barometric Pressure and Fishing: Fact vs. Fiction

Solunar Tables: Science, Myth, and Practical Use

Casting in the Wind: A Saltwater Caster's Guide
Wind is the defining challenge of saltwater fly fishing. It blows every day on the flats, and it doesn't care about your presentation.
