The Polar Shrimp was designed for steelhead on the Eel River in California, but Alaskan salmon never got the memo that it was not meant for them. The orange body glows in glacial water like a small, edible sunset, and the white wing pulses in the current with a rhythm that salmon apparently find hypnotic. It has been catching fish since 1936, which is longer than Alaska has been a state.
